Where Fashion Meets Art.
What We Offer
At Moksha, our quest if to offer to you hand woven sarees, salwar suits, scarves and stoles that are wearable yet tastefully different and eye catching without being outlandish.
While still a teacher in Modern High School For Girls, Shampa Mukherji’s pursuit for a creative outlet led to the birth of Moksha in 1996. Later that year, Moksha had its first exhibition in Kolkata, at the Obsession Gallery. The response was overwhelming and Moksha had officially launched.
Over the years, Moksha has exhibited worldwide and in many cities all over India.
Shampa Mukherji learnt painting from her grandmother as a child and then trained under Mrs Karuna Saha, an artist of renown in Bengal. Later she learnt Batik and Terracotta sculpting at the Lalit Kala Academy.
With Moksha, her aim was to produce sarees which would be unique and different. She focussed hard to break free from the “border-pallu” rigidity and allow variations on arrangements.
